Abstract

The case series traces the growth history of one of the country?s biggest cooperative that includes microfinance in its range of service offerings, and how its programs have improved (or failed to improve) the lives of its co-operators. SMMPC C covers the period 1997-2004. It presents the insights of the members and the cooperative officers on SMMPC?s experience and its performance in the last eight years, and how the cooperative was able (or unable) to serve its mission. The case serves as an epilogue as well as a summary of the lessons learned.
